Messner Mountain Museum Ortles

The museum is located at 1900 m above sea level, built underground and dedicated to the theme of ice. In the MMM Ortles, Reinhold Messner tells about the horrors of ice and darkness, about snowmen, snow lions, the White Out and the third pole. You can also see the world’s largest collection of Ortler pictures and ice tools from two centuries. Themes are skiing, ice climbing and pole expeditions. The visitor literally walks into the mountain and can get an idea of ice mountains, Arctic and Antarctic, the power of the avalanches and the effort of artists to represent ice.
